Two men charged with kidnapping, torture and extortion after alleged assault of woman in Brisbane's south
By Laura LavelleTwo men have been charged with kidnapping, torture and extortion after a woman was allegedly assaulted in Brisbane's south, with detectives hoping to locate two more men for questioning.
Queensland police allege four men travelling in a stolen Audi — two armed with a firearm and one with a knife — forced entry to a property in Doolandella on Friday afternoon, before stealing a number of items.
Assistant Regional Crime Coordinator Acting Inspector Michael Hogan said a 43-year-old woman, who was at home by herself, was allegedly assaulted and then driven to Forest Lake, where "a firearm was discharged at least once".
"That's gone into a vehicle. Police have declared crime scenes at both of those addresses and are conducting their examination as we speak," he said.
Four men were taken into custody at a Stafford Heights address just after 3:30pm on Friday.
A 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old man have since been charged with a string of offences, including kidnapping, torture and extortion, while the other two men have been released and are assisting police with their enquiries.
"Detectives are now turning their attention to locating two more male persons that attended the initial Doolandella address and wish to question them in relation to their involvement to other things," Acting Inspector Hogan said.
Two men have matters heard in court
Patriss Tawor and Erick Barry Rock have been charged with one count each of kidnapping, extortion, torture, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, armed robbery, dangerous conduct with a weapon, possess shortened firearms, enter dwelling with intent, enter dwelling with intent whilst armed, and wilful damage.
They did not apply for bail in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today and the matter was adjourned.
Their defence lawyer, Ngarangi Rangihuna, indicated Mr Rock would apply for bail on Monday when his matter returns to court.
Mr Tawor’s matter will return to court the following Monday for committal mention.
Police are urging anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV from the area at the time to come forward.
