Contact ABC Investigations

If you are sharing sensitive information, please take the time to examine the best way of contacting the ABC. If you wish to remain anonymous do not send us anything from a phone, phone number, computer or email address connected to you without taking one of the additional steps below.

We have several options available, all with differing levels of security. No system is 100% secure, but these methods can be used to protect your communication with ABC journalists.

Signal

A free smartphone app, Signal uses end-to-end encryption and can be used for secure calling, text messages and to send images and video. It also has auto-delete settings.

Signal number +61 (0)436 369 072

Do not use this number for normal text messages or phone calls, only use the number via the Signal app on a smartphone or desktop computer.

Send us a story tip or provide feedback

The simplest way to contact the team is to complete this form.

We will treat your information as confidential and will not publish your story or your details without contacting you to obtain your permission.

However, if you need a higher level of security to protect your anonymity, please consider using one of the other methods of communication shown on this page.

ProtonMail

ProtonMail is an easy to use, secure email service, with messages stored and transmitted in an encrypted format. Once you have signed up to an account, it can be accessed via an internet browser or on a mobile app. Documents and images can be sent as message attachments.

Please click below to access email address.

The most secure way to use this service is for both parties to have ProtonMail accounts, so please don’t send emails using another service.

Postal Mail

Sending a letter or package is the only method to get physical content to the ABC. If appropriate measures are taken, conventional mail can be a good way to provide information anonymously.

Be aware physical mail can be anonymous, but it is not 100% secure. Do not send from a post office, instead use an external post box. If you’re sending to a program or journalist not based in Sydney, the mail will be internally redirected.

Lodging a complaint

You can email us your complaints using the Lodge a complaint form.

Before submitting your complaint, you may wish to see if your concern has been addressed in our FAQs.

As a statutory corporation that relies on public funds, the ABC must aim to ensure that the time and resources used in dealing with audience complaints are proportionate to the circumstances. In some cases, proportionate handling will mean you receive no more than an automated acknowledgement that your message has been received.

Please note that whilst anonymous complaints may be submitted, the ABC also cannot respond to anonymous correspondence.
