Extra machinery has been brought in to help search a north Queensland backyard as part of the 1972 cold case investigation of missing Mackay schoolgirl Marilyn Wallman.
Police started digging up the yard in North Mackay earlier this week after a tip-off about the 14-year-old who disappeared on her way to school nearly 40 years ago.
Large sections of the yard have now been dug up and the search is expected to continue today.
No-one has ever been charged over her disappearance.
