The ABC ME App is a video-on-demand app for Australian primary school-aged children that forms part of the ABC iview family. Watch ABC ME shows when and where you want in a trusted online environment.
ABC ME is free and there are no adverts or in-app purchases.
You can watch shows in the app via a Wifi or 3G/4G connection. Due to rights restrictions, ABC ME is geo-blocked to Australia.

ABC ME is the home to many trusted and loved shows, carefully selected to entertain and educate young Australians. In the app you'll also find some favourite, age and classification appropriate ABC and ABC KIDS shows that are loved by primary school children.

Why do the programs expire?
The expiry period for programs on ABC ME is largely determined by the terms under which the ABC licenses shows from content suppliers and producers.
Why can't I find the show I'm looking for?
The ABC ME app displays a range of shows that have been broadcast on ABC ME. Some shows that have aired on TV may not appear on the app due to rights restrictions.
How often is ABC ME updated?
New episodes are added to ABC ME every day. Episodes are usually made available for 30 days.
How can I control my child's viewing?
ABC ME includes optional parental control settings in the 'Restrict content' screen that allow individual shows and PG rated episodes to be hidden from the app. These settings can be changed easily at any time and are protected by PIN access.
Are the profiles private?
Yes, all data is stored locally including the optional name and avatar. Your child is not personally identifiable by this data.
Can I watch ABC ME if I'm not in Australia?
Under its program licensing agreements, ABC ME is geo-blocked to Australia, which means that programs cannot be played on ABC ME outside of Australia.
Does watching ABC ME affect my internet download limits or mobile data allowance?
Yes, watching ABC ME will count towards your monthly allowable bandwidth for your networked internet connection or your mobile data quota - depending on which you are using. Below is an indication of the data usage and consumption you can expect from the average program lengths:
- A 60 minute program will consume up to 300MB of data
- A 30 minute program will consume up to 150MB of data
- A 10 minute program will consume up to 50MB of data
- A 5 minute program will consume up to 25MB of data
For mobile data, this assumes watching over a strong 3G/4G connection, when data consumption is highest, and assumes that no data has been consumed other than via watching ABC ME streaming video.
How am I charged for watching video over a mobile data connection?
The amount you are charged for watching video over Mobile Data depends on several things:
- How much data your mobile phone company allows you to download each month at no extra cost (your quota)
- How much data you've already downloaded in that month, and how much of your quota remains
- How much your mobile phone company charges you when you download more than your monthly quota
If you have a small monthly quota, or have used almost all of your monthly quota, watching video over a Mobile Data connection could be expensive. Do check your quota with your mobile phone company, and monitor your usage. Your mobile phone company may be able to send you alerts when you reach the limit of your monthly quota.
