Ollie was MC at his brother's wedding. "It was a fun party," he recalls, "kind of rowdy. But inside I had a sense of unease. I couldn't explain it." He ignored the feeling. His brother seemed so happy.
Greg met his bride while backpacking in London. He was in his twenties and partying hard. But he always had his eye on America. He loved everything to do with the place, from the politics to the people. So, when he met a dark-haired, older, well-travelled, fast-talking Californian woman named Lezlie Manukian he says he was 'a sitting duck'.
Lezlie was charismatic, confident and charming. She loved adventure and said she was from a rich background, a 'trust fund baby'. She was also a successful, international restaurateur. Lezlie had been everywhere and done everything. Greg fell head-over-heels in love.
After a relatively short international romance they get married in New Zealand. Things seemed perfect as Lezlie started another one of her restaurants, this time in a sleepy New Zealand coastal town. Lezlie picked the place because of its name: 'The Dragonfly'. It matched the tattoo on her neck... 'it's a sign,' she said.
But the dream starts to fade quickly. As the cash mysteriously dried up and the bank moved in, Lezlie gets on a plane back to the US. None of the Wards would ever see her again.
