Ethan Ross, accused of administering drugs to partner, faces Elizabeth Magistrates Court
By Anisha PillarisettyA former cyber security engineer has faced court following the death of his partner who was found unconscious at a home in Adelaide's north-east on Thursday.
Ethan Ross, 27, appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Friday via video link, accused of administering a drug of dependence to 26-year-old Amy Bowden.
The court heard the man told paramedics he administered over-the-counter drug naloxone and methamphetamine to Ms Bowden to try and reverse the effects of a heroin overdose.
Mr Ross's lawyer said his client strongly contests the allegations.
Police said they were called by paramedics to the property at Redwood Park around 8am on Thursday and found the body of the 26-year-old woman who could not be revived.
Prosecutors told the court police found a series of messages on Mr Ross's phone between February 6 and February 9, including some which said that he administered methamphetamine to his partner.
It is alleged there were two males and a female at the address along with Mr Ross when paramedics arrived but they left before police got there and are yet to be identified.
Prosecutors said the investigation is ongoing and further charges could be laid.
Mr Ross's lawyer argued that the 27-year-old's previous role in cyber security required a thorough background check, and that he would not pose a risk to the community if he was granted bail.
His lawyer said Mr Ross was in a loving relationship with Ms Bowden, and that he was in shock from her death when talking to police and paramedics.
Magistrate Lana Chester said she would consider granting Mr Ross home detention bail and deferred her decision until next week, pending a home detention report.
He is due to appear in court again next Friday.
