It's the middle of February and Australia's live export trade to Indonesia remains in limbo.

The cattle industry is still waiting for the Indonesian government to release import permits for 2024.

Other commodities also waiting for permits include Australian boxed beef and table grapes.

It is a busy time in Indonesia, with the nation heading to the polls next week on February 14.

For an update, ABC Rural spoke to Troy Setter from the Consolidated Pastoral Company (CPC), which owns cattle stations across northern Australia and also some feedlots in Indonesia.
