Wattleseed has been consumed by Indigenous Australians for thousands of years.

Research now shows we should all be trying to get this native legume into our diets.

Sera Susan Jacob from the ARC Centre for Uniquely Australian Foods, has been researching the properties of wattleseed.

Her findings have been published in the Journal of Food Science.

ABC Rural spoke to Mrs Jacob and Indigenous foods advocate Karen Sheldon.
