Sue Lowry originally trained as an opera singer, but while living in London she fell in love with teaching children with special needs.
Sue now teaches music to students with all kinds of abilities and interests at the Southport Special School.
For many of her students music offers a whole new way of communicating.
Their grateful families recently launched an ambitious campaign to get Sue voted ARIA Music Teacher of the Year.
