American Jake Adelstein, whose book Tokyo Vice detailed his time as a crime reporter on the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun and was the basis of the TV series of the same name, has spent his career dealing with the infamous yakuza of Japan.

His latest book is a history (of sorts) of the organised crime groups --The Last Yakuza: Life and Death in the Japanese Underworld.
