At the ABC we're dedicated to helping you during natural disasters and extreme weather events by providing coverage of emergency situations as they arise and unfold.

But we're also here for communities as they recover and rebuild.

How to help

As bushfire season unfolds, you can support charities working directly with bushfire affected communities.

Donations can be made via the links below.

This list will be regularly updated through bushfire season.

Donate to charities that support bushfire affected communities

Donate to your local fire services and brigades

Financial donations are often preferred — affected communities often do not have anywhere to put donated toys, clothes and other goods during a crisis.

Stay connected in an emergency

If you're close to or in an emergency situation, your local ABC Radio station will provide the latest emergency warnings and advice, as supplied by the relevant emergency agencies.

There any many ways you can tune in – via AM/FM radio, the ABC listen app, online streaming via the local website or ABC Radio website, your smart speaker, or DAB+ Digital radio in metropolitan areas.

Remember, listen to your local ABC Radio for emergency warnings and updates and for the latest news coverage on the fires visit news.abc.net.au or the ABC News app for up-to-the-minute coverage.

ABC News has reporters at the main fire fronts and will have up to date information as the bushfire threat unfolds.
